Coupled Climate and Forced POP/CICE Simulations using CESM

Using the Community Climate Earth System (CESM) framework, we execute multi-decadal global coupled ocean and sea ice simulations forced with Coordinated Ocean Reference Experiment (CORE) atmospheric forcing at nominal horizontal resolutions of 1 and 1/10-degree. CESM uses the Los Alamos National Laboratory Parallel Ocean Program (POP) and CICE models as its ocean and sea ice components, respectively. Here we show sea ice from these simulations produced using the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) sea ice diagnostics package. Additionally, we show results from fully coupled CESM simulations, primarily CESM T85x1.

     Forced HYCOM Simulations

Sea ice results from a suite of sensitivity simulations executed using a global 0.72-deg configuration of the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) coupled to CICE.
