The figures show, clockwise from the left: the Brazil-Malvinas Confluence as seen by the AVHRR sensor in Olson et al. (1988), a dust plume outbreak over the ocean off NW Africa as seen by the SeaWiFs sensor in February 2000, and the same dust event acquired by TOMS showing nicely the sources of continental dust.
